La emoción que se siente cuando se contrata por primera vez un servicio de Hosting suele empañar nuestro juicio. Al principio se tienen tantos planes para la nueva página que difícilmente se piensa en algo más que su estructura, plantillas y demás elementos necesarios para su construcción; logrando que temas tan importantes como la seguridad sean colocados en segundo lugar de importancia. Luego, con el paso del tiempo y algunas malas experiencias, nos percatamos del error cometido, pero ya es demasiado tarde: la información que tanto trabajo nos ha costado se ha perdido para siempre.
La frustración que se siente es equivalente a la que se experimenta cuando un asaltante nos despoja de nuestro dinero en la calle, pues hemos invertido dinero, tiempo, trabajo y anhelos en ese proyecto cibernético que sin aviso ya no existe como tal.
En algunas ocasiones el soporte técnico del servicio de hospedaje de páginas web puede recuperar los datos perdidos, pero en otras la pérdida será total y permanente. Para evitar este contratiempo se deben tener en cuenta dos puntos básicos de prevención que disminuyen los riesgos y sus principales consecuencias:
1. Guarda celosamente la información de tu cuenta. Esto se refiere a cualquier tipo de usuario y clave que el servicio de Hosting te proporcione para el manejo del panel de control de tu blog, página comercial, etc. La mayoría de las veces proporcionamos estos datos a terceras personas o los dejamos a la vista, corriendo el riesgo de que alguien ajeno tenga acceso total a su configuración sin que estemos enterados.
2. Cada determinado tiempo cambia tu clave de acceso, de preferencia con caracteres alfanuméricos para optimizar el grado de seguridad de la misma y la dificultad de ser reproducida sin tu consentimiento.
Con sólo seguir estos dos puntos básicos podemos ahorrarnos muchos problemas, pues como dice el viejo dicho ‘más vale prevenir que lamentar’ o en este caso ‘más vale dudar de todos que ser en extremo confiado’.

Thanks for the post (pics do help) and the idea to store the .xaps and other binary files (images/audio) on S3 is really a good one. Then I just need the Web Services on my cheap hosting site and everyone is happy. For a small/medium-sized Silverlight app this is ideal.
Now I just need to see what hosting the Web Service and data in the cloud would cost (and see if I trust it yet).

Unfortunately, I think that the Heart Drive people actually change the long string at the end of the download link every so often, or perhaps based on a person's IP. I tried that wget command, and it seems to have stopped working. I guess they want everyone to go and see their ads in order to download a file. I imagine that this problem will go away when the project moves to an open-source project hosting web site.

Though people disagree on what Web2.0 really is. Initially it was just the name of a conference created by O'Reilly Publishers. The term then snowballed to embrace UGC, Social Networking, Ajax, Folksonomies (user tagging) and other stuff that is now commonplace. At the beginning I think it was simply a way for clued up web people to encapsulate all that was new and exciting about the web. Now of course it's been hijacked by marketing types to flog any old service.
The idea of a semantic web predates Web2.0 as a concept and has been promoted by Tim_Berners-Lee (the creator of the WWW) for a while now. Calling it Web3.0 is stupid but, alas, probably inevitable.
I think naming web stages in advance is a mugs game. Only from looking at the history will we really see any "stages" and pinpoint the moments that truely changed the game. Maybe it will be more closely related to the economics of the market rather than the technologies; if there's another burst bubble, that's what will be more significant, not that someone worked out how to do chat over AJAX.
Interesting stuff though.

Well, I feel that lobsters and "dogs and cats" are tottaley diffrent, these are pets, a lobster is not a pet and is a main sorce of food, (seafood) there is no market for cats or dogs as we dont eat them and are not a good sorce of food. This is just simpely food, sorry. I am an animal lover too, and volunteer at numeruos homeless cat and dog shelters, but I can't say that I would be upset to see some one kill a Lobter, to eat or for food, the only way it would upset me, is if they were just doing it for sport, and killing it for the "sport" of it, or for the meanness of it, and letting it go to waste. We are carnavoures by nature and unless there was any harm or waste that went on, then those people did nothing wrong, Yes some people can be insensetive to life, but I certain the poor lobster could not understand what was being said or done, and if cats or dogs tasted like chicken or lobster, then, yes, I am sure people would eat them too, exept the people who love them and keep them as pets, but Im also sure there would quickley be a law to stop this, unlike some countries where eating dogs and cats are perfectley normal, because they are 3rd world countries and are probabley forced to do so, due to lack of money and hunger, and you can't exactley condem someone haveing to eat or die, it is called survial.
Filezilla is an FTP server, usually you run that on your own PC to allow another PC to download or upload files from/to it. If you;re trying to transfer files around at home you can use the filezilla server's IP address as it's host name. If you are running Windows on the filezilla box then open a command prompt (try typing cmd into the programs/files box in the Startup menu for WIndows 7, then hit enter. For XP try File/Run then type in cmd or maybe command.
At the command prompt type "ipconfig" and look for the IP address (maybe IP v4 address) in the results. If there is more than one (wireless and and Ethernet, for example) use the one that connects you to the other PC: if you are connecting wirelessly use the wireless IP address, if you are plugged in via an Ethernet cable then use the Ethernet adapter's IP address. It probably should look like 4 numbers separated by periods (mine is 192.168.1.107). Use that as the host name.

first you go to create a free account and free hosting. download joomla 1.5 from then go to ur x10hosting login (after u created an account) go to file manager upload the joomla (its in a zip file; dont unzip it) then extract it in public_html, now go to ur website url (u get this when u register at x10hosting) it should start the installation but dont start it. go to x10hosting again and go to ur cpane>mysql create a database and a user. now your ready. go to ur website url once again then u should know wat to do. the once uget to "database" (in the installation) it will ask u for the host it should be in the cpanel>mysql database and it it written in blue it is on tthe botttom of "create new database" and voila ur done, all u have to do now is edit the site through the administrator which is then login (by default username is admin) and the password is the pass u chose in the installation. and then get new templates (google them) at first when using joomla it can be a little confusing but i know u will get used to it. i know i did within 2-3 days. We need to clarify this in the documentation…it's a bit confusing.
The BizTalk MSDN documentation is a bit misleading…the referenced section sub-topic is “ASP.NET settings that can impact or SOAP Adapter performance” and it states at the top of the sub-section “The following settings can be applied to an ASP.NET application that hosts a web application that the or SOAP adapter communicates with. These parameters are set in the web.config or machine.config files of the server hosting the web application.”
BUT then for some reason we state “If the BizTalk Server computer is running ASP.NET 2.0 or later then you can set autoConfig=true”. This is very confusing, as it should state “If the machine hosting the web services is running ASP.NET 2.0 or later…”.
We also have the topic in the BizTalk 2009 documentation “SOAP Adapter Configuration and Tuning Parameters” ( ), and I think we do a better job of documenting this as well in the Operations Guide under the topic “Setting SOAP and Adapter Concurrent Connections” ( ).
Bottom line, I'll open a doc bug to see if I can get this clarified on the page you referenced.

Hi, my web application is hosting the web service (.svc) and the Silverlight app on IIS. Everything works fine when hosted on the VS Dev Server, but when I switch to hosting on IIS the communication with the service fails.
Firebug says the server request returns '405 Method not allowed.' My IIS (5.1 on XP) doesn't let me register the .svc extension to isapi in the application mappings. The OK button is always disabled.
I would change your web host. The problem probably has more to do with the way that your webhost installs and interacts with WordPress than it does with WordPress itself. (Also, I think WP is up to 2.6 or 2.7…so upgrading may help.)
